Cooke Fuels has evolved from humble beginnings in North East Lancashire to being one of the UK’s major fuel suppliers.
Cooke Fuels was founded in 1845 when the Thomas brothers, Richard and James, decided to expand their existing business and produce lubricants for the Lancashire weaving industry. Samuel Cooke joined the business in 1868 before taking over the company in 1881, changing the name to Samuel Cooke and co. As the years passed, Cooke developed a specialist lubricants business before moving into commercial fuels and home heating oil distribution.
